Practical Jewish Magic

This is a very short post just to mention that I've officially begun research for the Practical Jewish Magic book. There are only three or four books on Jewish magic in English, and my plan is to read all of them before starting the writing process.

If you have any particular topics you'd like to see addressed in the book or on this blog in the future, please comment and let me know what they are.

  1. Please can you explain to me the steps required to make a golem? Else how to converse with an angel?

  2. Conversing with angels just requires being in an altered state of consciousness. My friend Sara, who runs the Hierophantery blog to the right, favors automatic writing. I've tried other approaches, but it's all about what kinds of altered states you personally gravitate toward. You might try meditation, prayer, high ritual, or whatever entheogens are legal in your area.

As for golems, I can probably find you instructions but I won't guarantee that they'll work for anything more than creating a specific kind of (astral) servitor. If it were possible to create a living being that actually walks around on earth, I'm not interested in finding out how. Haven't you heard how the golem legends usually end? It's not pretty.
